Sapulpa athletic department hosts second ChieftainStrong Community Service Day

Sapulpa athletic department welcomed not just athletes, but all students to come help prepare for this year’s Route 66 Christmas Chute. The Christmas Chute was proposed in September of last year and will come to life this November. The holiday event will take place in downtown Sapulpa and will stretch down Dewey Avenue from Main Street all the way to the courthouse.

Cross country athlete, Luis Nunez, helps put together lights for the Route 66 Christmas Chute.

This year, almost 150 students volunteered to help put over 30,000 lights together for the event that will begin on November 3rd. What was supposed to take four hours ended up only taking about an hour and a half due to hard work our Chieftain students put in this morning.

We were also very thankful to have KOTV – News on 6 and KJRH – 2 News for You stop by and cover today’s event.

Multi-sport athlete, Micco Jones, speaks to KOTV – News on 6 about the ChieftainStrong Community Service Day.
