Sapulpa High School’s Joyce Stoneking started cheering when she was 11-years old. Today, Joyce is a senior and a member of the varsity cheer squad.
As a member of the cheer squad, Joyce and her teammates love getting the crowd involved in the game and cheering on the players.
“I not only love representing our school, but our athletes as well. When we are tied against the opposing team, the energy all over the football field is so encouraging and our fans are fired up for our players. That is what I love the most,” Joyce said.
Joyce is proud of her school and her classmates at Sapulpa for the way they accept one another and support all of the activities at school.
“I love how we are so uplifting with each other. We are such a strong group of athletes who strive to be better day in and day out,” Joyce said. “What I love most about Sapulpa High School is how we as a student body respect and encourage each other.”
Once her days cheering for Sapulpa have come to an end, Joyce said she plans on changing her blue for orange and heading to Stillwater.
“I plan to attend college at Oklahoma State University and get a degree in business finance. I plan to try out for the OSU cheer team,” Joyce said. “What I will miss most is the Blue Crew. I will definitely miss the feeling of crowd leading and cheering with the student section to encourage our players.”
After the game you can find Joyce hanging out with friends and talking about the game. You might even catch Joyce and her friends at Taco Bueno.
