Sage Adams has been a constant behind the plate as a catcher and at the plate as a hitter for Sapulpa.

“Sage has been an unstoppable force for Sapulpa since she was a freshman,” Sapulpa head coach Sarah Veach said. “She has led our team the last two years at the plate, and her leadership presence in the field is unmatched. 

“I have loved watching her hard work and determination pay off. She is extremely dedicated to her team and to make our program a success.”

Adams hit .409 last year as a sophomore. She has been a conference offensive player of the year, defensive player of the year and newcomer of the year. She’s also been named an all-district catcher, and she’s a two-time academic all-conference selection.

As a junior, Adams wants to be even better with a bat in her hands. She also wants to help lead the Chieftains to a state tournament berth.

“I want to become more consistent offensively and get all-district catcher. I believe I’ve improved the most in my approach offensively,” she said. “I want us to make it to state and see the Sapulpa softball team grow as a whole.”

Adam’s aunt has had the biggest impact on her as a softball player.

“My biggest influence is my aunt Cady Byrnes. She gave the desire to be a softball player just like her,” Adams said. “Her confidence, hard work, and perseverance have helped me become the softball player I am today. I am so grateful to have her as an influence and wouldn’t have it any other way.”

Adams, who says her most memorable moment was a cupcake fight last season on senior night, plans to go to college and continue her softball career.

“I would love to pursue a career in exercise science and later become a pediatric physical therapist,” she said.
