Sapulpa’s Harrison Fritz – Golf Spotlight – Presented by Inkwell

Harrison Fritz – Sapulpa High School

The game of golf has taught Harrison Fritz how to react better after something frustrating happens. Golf is a sport where all eyes focus on an individual player’s every move. Maintaining focus and concentration when things go wrong is a valuable skill to master.

Harrison is a freshman at Sapulpa High School. He says the best part of being on his golf team are the people he gets to meet and talk to every day. Teammate, Mark Russell, leaves the biggest impression. “He is very good at golf, and we exchange ways to improve,” he said.

Harrison’s first tournament win was in the seventh grade at LaFortune Golf Park. He looks forward to improving his skill and experiencing more wins in his future. Harrison follows the advice that if you work hard, good things will happen. “I feel like golf is a very skillful sport that requires a lot of hard work and I want to work hard to do well,” he says.

Harrison thanks his mom and dad for supporting him every day in his golf career. He is inspired by his dad’s work ethic and discipline. Harrison also credits his dad as the person who got him into golf. “When I was two years old my dad bought me a plastic set of clubs,” he says.

Ms. Zimmerman is Harrison’s favorite teacher. He says this is “because she is nice and is a good influence on me.”

His favorite professional athlete is NBA basketball player, Anthony Edwards, because he is confident and is very personable.

Spaghetti is Harrison’s go-to meal, and his dream vacation destination is the Bahamas to enjoy the outdoor activities. “I like being outside,” he says, “and I would take whoever wants to go with me.”

When not perfecting his swing, Harrison can be found playing basketball casually with his friends.
