Sapulpa’s Isabella Dennis – Volleyball Spotlight – Presented by Reed Architecture & Interiors

Isabella Dennis is a senior at Sapulpa High School, where she shines not only on the volleyball court but also as an exceptional student and leader. “I am involved in NHS, NSHSS, volleyball and NASA at my school. I am the chair of the Blood Drive this year and a member of our Executive Board for National Honor Society!”

Isabella’s journey in volleyball began in middle school, marked by a unique start and unwavering persistence. “I got started in volleyball by trying out in middle school. Funny story, I had quit before the season started due to scheduling conflicts. I tried out again for my freshman year and have been on the team ever since! The interest of playing a new sport seemed very exciting to me.” Her biggest influences include her supportive parents and her coach, Corey Harp.

Isabella has embraced a new role on the team, stepping up as a 6-Rotation Outside due to injuries. “My specific role on the team this year is Outside/DS. I had previously been just a defensive specialist for the team, but due to injuries this season, I have stepped up to become a 6-Rotation Outside!”

Isabella’s resilience and adaptability have been tested, but she has risen to the challenge. “The most challenging part of my volleyball career has been getting put into a new position surprisingly! Though I enjoy playing all the way around, it is difficult to adjust to something so much more demanding than what you’re used to.”

One of the highlights of her career was making it to state with her best friends. “The most memorable moment from our 2023-2024 season was getting to go to state with my absolute best friends ever and maintaining our 4x Regional Champions status!”

Looking ahead, Isabella plans to pursue a degree in nursing at the University of Tulsa, with the possibility of playing volleyball recreationally. “I see myself being in college for nursing. Volleyball will always be a part of my life, and I hope to play recreationally in my free time.”

Isabella’s message to younger players is filled with wisdom and encouragement. “My message to the younger girls aspiring to become volleyball players is to be open-minded for anything. Sometimes things get hard but know you’re strong enough to fight through them! Let the game bring you happiness and don’t let mistakes define your worth as a person. Volleyball is a game of silly mistakes! Take a chance and see how fun it could possibly be!”
