Sapulpa Boys Soccer
As the Sapulpa High School varsity soccer team prepares for its first match at home versus Collinsville, head coach Adedolapo Sobowale is focused on making the Sapulpa soccer program one of the best in the class.
One way to ensure the Chieftains get off to a great start is leaning on the play of Connor Benedict. Coach Sobowale said Benedict has shown he is capable of having a big year.
“Connor has really grown into a leader in the program, works hard and leads by example on and off the field. Very talented soccer player too,” said coach Sobowale.
But Benedict is not the only player expected to have a good year. Brady Powers does all the little things right and is a team player. His energy and drive make him a great teammate.
“Brady comes in everyday with the right energy and leadership. He is very vocal and people on the team look up to him. He is a player that has been starting all four years,” said coach Sobowale.
Ivan Cruz may be an underclassman, but his contributions will be key this season. Cruz is a freshman who enters the varsity ranks with a big spotlight after showing what he can do in early practices. With excellent ball handling skills, Cruz will have a chance to showcase his talents this season.
Also look for Collin Crabtree and Zeke Porter. Crabtree is a transfer student who has made an instant impression on and off the field.
“He comes in with the right attitude and takes a leadership role within the program. Players listen when he speaks,” said coach Sobowale.
Porter brings a solid set of skill to the pitch and is an “all-in” type player for Sapulpa.
District play starts April 4th on the road against Union. Other district road games include Enid, U.S. Grant, and Jenks to end the regular season. District home games include Piedmont, Stillwater, and Ponca City.
