Sapulpa’s Tucker Alberty

At the age of six, Sapulpa High School’s Tucker Alberty started wrestling, now a freshman, Alberty said he’s still learning and used this season to face some challenges and prepare to come back even stronger next year.

“The season hasn’t gone the way I wanted, but as a freshman, I know I’m still learning and growing. Every match is a chance to improve, and I’m focused on getting better,” said Alberty.

That skill set continues to grow, and the hard work will pay off.

“I feel my strength is conditioning. I have won a couple matches due to having a bigger gas tank than my opponent. I have improved the most on the top position,” said Alberty.

Sticking it out when things are tough is a sign that the athlete has the constitution to see things through. For Alberty, being around his teammates and getting their support means a lot.

“I love the strong chemistry we have as a team. We know each other well, support one another, and push each other to be better every day,” Alberty said. “Jack Madden has been dominant in almost all his matches. He has only lost a handful of times and they have been to wrestlers that will all have a legitimate chance to win state this year.”

While Alberty may be the teammate who keeps everyone laughing, he also knows the importance of mentally preparing for competition.

“I focus on my game plan, visualizing how I’ll execute my moves and find a way to win,” Alberty said. “One of my proudest accomplishments is earning a varsity spot as a freshman. It was a big milestone for me, and I’m always working to achieve even more.”

Inspired by his father, Alberty said his goal for life after high school includes college.

“My goal is to earn a wrestling scholarship and compete at the college level while furthering my education. If that doesn’t work out, I still plan to attend college and pursue a degree in business administration to build a successful future,” said Alberty.
