Sapulpa’s Gracie Stobaugh

With her first high school season coming to an end, Gracie Stobaugh said she loves her teammates and the way they support each other on and off the field. 

“I love how supportive and encouraging my teammates are. When I make a mistake, they
 help me fix it instead of immediately getting mad at me,” said Stobaugh. 

The freshman started playing soccer in the first grade, but it’s not the only sport and activity she is involved in at the Freshman Academy. 

“I’m a member of the varsity cross country and varsity track teams, as well as a member of our FFA chapter and National Junior Honor Society,” Stobaugh said. “The great thing about being a student-athlete at Sapulpa is that all of my teachers and coaches understand I’m a multi-sport athlete and are all very patient and understanding of that and encourage me in all that I do.” 

Playing left back for the Lady Chieftains, Stobaugh said if she was ever given a chance she would like to play forward where she can get more shots on goal. But like any good athlete, Stobaugh continues to work on her skills to help her team win. 

“A strength for me is that I can stay in a positive mindset during games and look at situations as “how can I come back from this” instead of thinking of them negatively. Something I’ve improved on the most is definitely my ball control and being able to take it up the field, and sometimes even get a shot,” said Stobaugh. 
 
 Another freshman on the team has made her presence felt as well. 

“So far this season, freshman, Ramsey Hurt, has definitely impressed me. She’s very driven and gives her all when she’s out there, and she’s been getting better and better with each game,” said Stobaugh. 
 

When summer arrives, Stobaugh said she plans to spend time with friends and family and train for cross country season in the fall.
