Softball Top 100 Spotlight – Sapulpa’s Daniah Blation – Presented by the Sapulpa Booster Club

Sapulpa High School product Daniah Blation is comfortable anywhere on the softball field except for pitcher or catcher. The utility player for the Lady Chieftains has played ball for nearly five seasons, which by most standards today is not a very long time. Blation is a natural at the sport and loves being around her teammates.

“I love that we can all play off each other well, most times. Someone always has someone’s back,” said Blation.

Now a senior, Blation gives credit to her mother for encouraging her and supporting her in everything she tries. Her great grandmother is a big influence on her as well.

“My mom been my number one coach since I was a baby. Just through life though, but she supports me through everything I want to do. She always gives me great pep talks, even if she doesn’t know what she’s talking about in the field. Amber Cook, however, is the one who made me love the game. Made me understand that it’s a much mental as it is skill on the field. They’re both great coaches for me,” said Blation. “My great grandma, and other family members have influenced me. I didn’t get to know my great grandma for who she truly was because she had Alzheimer’s most of my life, so it’s kind of special to be part of something she once was too.”

While softball is her main sport, Blation will run track in the spring and continue to be a member of the National Honor Society at school. Her favorite subject is math, but she could not narrow down who her favorite teacher has been over the years.

“My favorite subject is math, especially Trigonometry. I’ll have to say it’s a good tie between Tiffany Admire and Sarah Bacon as to who is my favorite teacher. They are both very fun and effective teachers,” said Blation.

Blation said there have been many memorable moments playing for Sapulpa, but one incident stands out.

“When I was in eighth grade, I had to Game Changer for varsity. Coach Carriger swore she gave the Henryetta lineup to me, and I must have lost it. So, I ended up getting in trouble for it, but not too bad. Then she found it on her and apologized so much. Now I keep the Henryetta lineup in my phone case,” said Blation.

The senior plans to attend college and continue playing softball after she graduate from Sapulpa High School.

In her free time Blation said she enjoys sleeping and catching up on more sleep. She also likes to hang out with friends.
