Talking Basketball with Sapulpa’s Lucchese Chaney – Presented by Creek County Abstract & Title

By Byron Beers

VYPE: What goals do you have for this year in basketball?

Lucchese Chaney: This year in basketball I hope to have a successful ending to our season, and to make it to the state championship.

VYPE: What has basketball taught you that you use in your daily life?

LC: In my daily life, basketball has taught me to stay consistent with the things I find important and that you have to work for everything you want in life to become successful.

VYPE: What’s your favorite part of being involved in basketball?

LC: I think my favorite part of being involved in basketball would either be the relationships I have formed with my teammates, or the competitiveness that the sport brings.

VYPE: Who inspires you and why?

LC: My mom and brother inspire me the most, they push me to my full potential and help me get better every single day.

VYPE: What do you think is the biggest challenge in basketball?

LC: Personally, I think the biggest challenge in basketball is maintaining confidence throughout the ups and downs.

VYPE: What do you think makes a great basketball player?

LC: I think something that makes a great basketball player is just determination and consistency.

VYPE: Who in your family is the best athlete? Explain.

LC: I would say the best athlete in my family is my brother, he’s going to college this year, he has worked very hard, and set a great example for me.

VYPE: What’s one sport you wish you could play that you don’t already play?

LC: Volleyball would probably be the sport I wish I could play that I don’t already play.

VYPE: What’s your go-to pregame song?

LC: Honestly I don’t have a specific pregame song, but I love listening to SZA before my games.
