Sapulpa’s Jayce McIntosh – Football Spotlight – Presented by Reed Architecture & Interiors

Sapulpa’s Jayce McIntosh

Every defense has a player who is responsible for calling the defensive set and adjustments. For the Sapulpa Chieftains, that player is Jayce McIntosh at middle linebacker. Sapulpa head coach Tim Holt Jr. said McIntosh is a leader on the defensive unit and the guy who knows where everyone should be on every play.

“Our defensive signal caller, super smart and heady on the field. Very physical and flies around and makes a ton of tackles with effort,” said coach Holt.

Now entering his senior season, McIntosh said he is looking forward to seeing what this team can accomplish. Something about the senior season feels different for McIntosh.

“Our team chemistry is at an all-time high,” McIntosh said. “Always excited to play Sand Springs but definitely looking forward to playing the teams that got the best of us last year.”

McIntosh said several of his teammates have stepped in spring ball and during team camps. The senior said they are certainly players to watch this season.

“Everyone should watch Kamdin George, Michael Bennett, Dalyn Williams, and Landon Barber,” said McIntosh.

In the classroom, McIntosh is just as focused and prepared. Like many of his peers, the senior has his

As a senior, McIntosh said he wants to leave a legacy for future players to follow. From the field to the classroom, McIntosh is proud to be a Chieftain, representing everything that stands for.

“The legacy I want to leave is being a great teammate and even better player,” McIntosh said. “My favorite subject is math, and my favorite teacher has to be Mr. Rice, my science teacher of the last two years.”

When he’s not on the field or in the gym, you can usually find McIntosh working his job at Chilis or hanging out with his friends. McIntosh said his source of inspiration comes from his father who is supporting his dream of playing college football after this year.

“My dad inspires me the most, he helps me with all my drills in both football and wrestling,” McIntosh said. “I look forward to playing football in college.”

His message to his teammates for the upcoming season?

“Keep our heads down and outwork everyone,” said McIntosh.
