Sapulpa’s Kam George – Football Spotlight – Presented by Chad Haberman, Oklahoma Farm Bureau Insurance Agent

Sapulpa’s Kam George

When do you know a player was meant to play the sport of football? It’s a questions parents try and answer every year in youth football. But there are those rare occasions when someone comes along who gets a late start, but it’s obvious they belong on the football field.

That’s the case for Sapulpa High School’s Kam George. At 6-foot-1, 300-pounds, George has something you can’t teach, size. His first season at the varsity level was last year and coach Holt believes his best is yet to come.

“He is poised to have a great season in the middle of our defense as he is very hard to block. He will also help us at guard on offense,” said coach Holt.

Making the decision to play was an easy one for George.

“What made me want to play football my sophomore year was I’ve always had a passion for the sport. I grew up loving football, and I was also raised in a family who loves the sport so before my high school sophomore year, I decided to play, because I just love the game of football,” said George.

But the work continues for George as he builds his resume on the gridiron.

“I’d say I’ve improved on speed and strength during the off-season, and I’ve improved on my explosiveness while getting off the ball,” George said. “What I love most about being a defensive lineman is the thrill of it. I love rushing the quarterback, and getting TFLs, it is one of my favorite things to do on the field.”

George is all-in on helping his team win and he is looking forward to playing in games against Sapulpa’s rival.

“A game I’m very excited to play this year is against Sand Springs. I’m looking forward to playing them,” said George.

During spring ball and team camp, George said several of his teammates have stepped up and are making big plays.

“Teammates I’ve noticed that have impressed me have been Jayce McIntosh, Michael Bennett, Jaxon Stone, and Levi Jensen,” said George.

Being a great teammate is important to George. When his playing days come to an end, George said he would like to play ball at the next level.

“The thing I love most about my team is that they’re very hard working and never give up on each other also, I love that they are encouraging when everyone feels down. They are always telling us to keep our head up,” George said. “I plan on going to play college football but if not, I want to try to become a plumber.”
