Sapulpa’s Caydon Miller – Athlete Spotlight – Presented by Brown Insurance Agency

By Derrick Smith

Wrestling is a tough and physical sport, so it only makes sense that the athletes that compete in it have to be tough too. Caydon Miller says that becoming the wrestler that he is today has been easy but it has been worth it.

“It has taken a lot of hard work and dedication,” he said. “You also have to be dedicated and ready to go through all of the hard work. It is more than just physical work, you also have to be mentally tough.”

Caydon is a senior at Sapulpa High School. This will be his ninth season as a wrestler. He says that he has had some great people that have impacted his life and career along the way.

“One of the biggest influences on my life is my dad,” Miller said. “When I was young I would always complain and always so I can’t do it and he would always push me through stuff and also he was the one who got me into wrestling. Another person that has been important to my career is my Coach Kyle Bleavins. He has pushed me through wresting for the past five to six years now and I will say I wouldn’t have any other head coach. He pushes me through every practice to make sure I go as hard as I can, he helps me through the sport not just physically but also mentally.”

Throughout his career, Miller has enjoyed some memorable moments on and off the mat. He says that his top memory so far was a milestone moment, but he is not planning on that being his top moment after this season is over.

“My highlight moment is definitely placing third at state last year,” he said. “It’s so hard to get up to that spot and for a sport like wrestling. It’s only you on that mat and your team can’t help you. But you better believe I’m coming for that number one spot this year.”
