Can Cohlson Peper Make it to the Podium…Again? – Sponsored by Beverly’s Fine Jewelry

— Sapulpa Wrestling —

Peper finished in third place at the 2021 5A East Regional Tournament at 152-pounds and was later a third place finisher at the 2021 5A State Tournament at the same weight. He finished the season with a record of 26-7. This year Peper is one of the favorites heading into the state tournament.

We caught up with Peper to find out more about the senior who coach Blevins calls the unsung hero of the team.

VYPE: Cohlson, coach Blevins said you were the unsung hero of the team. What does that mean to you?

Peper: It means a lot to me to be able to lead my team as a senior means everything to me and coach saying that makes the want to win even stronger.

VYPE: Placing third at state must be a great memory for you.

Peper: Placing third at the state tournament last year as a junior is my favorite memory as a student-athlete.

VYPE: What does your family mean to you? Even your younger brother is on the wrestling team.

Peper: My family are the reason I am where I am and the reason, I can keep on doing what I’m doing.

VYPE: How has this season been for you so far as state rapidly approaches?

Peper: This season has been a grind, full of adversity and struggles but it has been very successful so far.

VYPE: What weight are you wrestling at?

Peper: I am wrestling at 160.

VYPE: How focused on state are you and what would it mean to you to have another great showing?

Peper: I’m very focused on state and everything I do is to better myself so I can get the title Champion at the state tournament, and it would mean everything to me to have another great showing at state.
