Sapulpa’s Sage Adams – Softball Spotlight – Presented by American Patriot Service Company

Most young athlete dream of playing at the varsity level. When that dream comes true, some turn their attention to playing at the collegiate level. Sapulpa High School senior Sage Adams is one of those players looking to continue her playing career at the next level.

“My goal is to make it to a college where I can continue my softball career. I want to go to a college that feels like home, and I can make an immediate impact on. I also want to be with like-minded athletes. I want to major in elementary education to hopefully become an elementary teacher,” said Adams.

Sapulpa head coach Magen Coldiron talked about Adams play behind the plate as the starting catcher.

“Sage Adams is a senior and our catcher. She is dominant behind the plate and has a very strong arm. Sage has a strong bat as well. She has helped us tremendously with big hits to take leads and win ball games. Great work ethic and a great leader,” said Coldiron.

Adams fell in love with the sport when she was in the second grade. It was the first time she stepped onto the field. Since that day, Adams has continued to work on her game, even coming into this season.

“I feel I have most improved on offensive side. I have become more consistent and have gained a lot of power,” said Adams.

Adams is a team player and said she loves being around her teammates and competing for her school.

“I love how close we are and how we can just be ourselves. I have made some of my closest friends on the Sapulpa softball team. Sapulpa makes a great place for me as a student-athlete because of the community and support I receive,” said Adams.

On the field, Adams is as competitive as they come. The senior said she hates to lose and is inspired by a family member who instilled some excellent qualities in her early on.

“My aunt Cady Byrnes has made a very big impact on me. She gave me the desire to be a softball player just like her. Qualities like confidence, hard work, and perseverance are just some of the qualities I admire about her! She has 100 percent helped me become the softball player I am today,” said Adams. Away from the game you can usually find Adams spending time with friends and family while attending Oklahoma Sooner football games.
